More Than A Wine Experience in Spain

Do you know that Spain is the 3rd largest producer of wine with the largest land area dedicated to vineyards in the world? We are almost in September, which means we are in the most unique time in the year - the grape harvest. Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz) welcomes you the first two weeks of September on their annual Wine Festival to enjoy Wine, Horses and Flamenco. The second part of September (21st) is dedicated to St Mateo, the Patron of Logroño, Rioja wine region. Enjoy the time to discover the secrets of the wine-making process like traditional treading of grapes, tasting of first must, and some unique experience like Michelin star meal, wine painting, or golf.

1. WINE & Underwater Wine Tasting

Bodegas Monje, Tenerife was founded in 1750 in Tenerife with the idea to create one of the best wine, red and rose wines with perfect flavors which adapt to the Canarian cuisine. Marques de Riscal Gastronomic Restaurant with chef Francis Paniego awarded with Michelin Star offers 2 tasting menus, where traditional food and high-quality wines are the main protagonists. 3. WINE & Hot-Air Ballon Ride

Bodegas Muga, Haro: Muga winery is a family business from 1932, with its own grapes and traditional winemaking techniques. We can definitely say that Muga Winery is 100% traditional winery, where quality is a must.

See the winery camps from above with hot-air ballon is a unique experience you can enjoy in Rioja. Imagine the following, one hour before sunrise the winery staff will pick you up from your hotel and will give you instructions (the most important one the weather conditions). The whole experience includes lift-off (around 20mins) and ride around 60mins. Oh, these breathtaking views early in the morning, mixing colors, sun rises, and fresh air. After that is time for mid-morning snack and visit, of the winery. After the visit you will be able to receive your flight diploma.

4. Wine and Solidarity

Ilusion+, Catalonia is a solidarity project created by Pau and Gina. Pau is Catalan, Gina is Mexican and they have met in China and fell in love with each other. In 2013, Pau was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a neuro-degenerative illness. Since that moment, their life changed. From this bad news, ILUSIÓN+ was born, a project that aims to collaborate with several social initiatives through selling wine.

8. CAVA & Chocolate

Perès Baltá, Penedes is a family winery from 1790 with fresh ideas and proper style. The uniqueness of the winery is the level of the sea between 170m-750m where is the secret of specific wine flavor. From 2012 the winery cultivates wine using biodynamic way. Definitely one of the best organic wineries in Penedés region.

Next step of this experience is the visit to the Simon Call Chocolate Factory. Is important to say that both winery and factory are not on the same place, but they have created this experience together. Simon Coll has more than 100 years of experience and during the visit you will learn the history of the cacao tree, production process and of course taste chocolate, a lot of chocolate.

9. WINE & Art

Create wine from grapes is art, but create a piece of art using wine tint it's an art experience. It's not necessary to be a professional artist, the secret is in your creativity. In 2017 Miguel Ángel Lozano from Murcia created a wine tint kit, called Dama Juana in honor of his grandma Juana. At the same time ''damajana'' in Spanish (''demijohn'' in English) is a bulbous narrow-necked bottle holding from 3 to 10 gallons of liquid, typically enclosed in a wicker cover. Years were used for wine and other spirits. If you want to be a wine artist for 3hrs and discover your secret talent, check for future workshops at Winery Luzon, Murcia.
